5 marketing tips for more engagement on Instagram

Instagram can be a big thing to conquer at first, but have no fear will or here with 5 tips on how you can build a platform that has your audience flocking.

There are some unsaid rules when it comes to Instagram the most important two goes as followed:

  1. 1-2 posts a day (anymore you risk spamming and getting unfollowed), this keeps your feed fresh and means you can be reactive to events in a timely manner.

  2. Post times, naturally Instagram’s audience ebbs and flows over the day with time differences around the world, so it’s best to post at peak times when your audience is most likely to engage with your content. We would recommend the first post around 8 AM – 9 AM and then the second around 4 PM – 7 PM. This targets people when they just wake up, are commuting and getting home and relaxing.

Who are you? What do you represent and what do you want to attract?

Having Clarity, creativity, and consistency throughout your page will build loyal followers.

The first step is to build a profile that fits with your band, I.e colour scheme, voice and general ethos. So whatever platform people find you on they will instinctively it’s you, it builds a sort of trust between you and your audience and new potential customers.

Consistently engage with your followers in your comment to build loyalty and increase engagement, this lets them feel closer to the brand and also that their thoughts and opinions matter. Make yourself easy to find by using the appropriate hashtags, you don’t have to go wild on all your posts with them, but if you’re running a competition or a short-term series hashtags will make it easier to find and share.

User-generated content

One of the most effective ways of building brand engagement is by incorporating user-generated content. It gives your followers the chance for greater involvement with the brand as well as reducing marketing costs, as content is freely shared and approved for you by your audience.

Instagram’s features, what do they all do?

Main feed – 1/ 2 posts a day with content you want to be visible straight away, for e.g products, services, events

Stories – behind the scenes, day in the life of, sneak peeks

Reels – short and snappy content perfect for quick promotion

Lives/Tv – You can hold live Q&As or Webinars

Shop- you can make products on your page shoppable so it makes it even easier for your audience to buy them

Using all of the features above or the ones that are best for you will allow you to engage with your audience in the best way depending on what you what to display and share.

Cross Promotion

Your Instagram account doesn’t have to be a stand-alone platform and in fact, it’s better if it is not. Cross-promote your other page to drive more traffic to them particularly your website where goods and services can be brought. You can do this in several ways, the simplest is putting your website in your bio. All of Instagram’s ad formats offer a call-to-action button that followers can click on to take them to your website.

By following these pointers you’ll be able to increase your engagement in no time!
